Colin K. Donovan
Colin Kennedy Donovan is an anti-racist Irish/English/German/Spanish "white" physically (dis)abled genderqueer trans activist, performer, educator and writer. S/he has performed and facilitated workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Against Patriarchy (University of Oregon--Eugene), Sluts Against Rape (Portland, Oregon) and the Seattle Poetry Festival.
Combining a sharp sense of humor with an astute analysis of politics and culture, Colin is the author of the radical (dis)ability zine Fuck Pity and the creator/performer of the Handi-Capable-Bi-Queer-Slut of the World, the in-your-face (dis)abled advice columnist.
Lauded as a "wisecrack" by Fabula Magazine, Colin's creative and critical work has appeared in several publications, including Clamor Magazine; Revolutionary Voices: A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology; Sojourner; Turning the Tide: Journal of Anti-Racist Action, Research and Education; Xcp: Streetnotes and Vox Populi: Seattle Poetry Festival 2001.
A dedicated community organizer, Colin is co-founder of RESYST (Resources for Youth, Students and Trainers) Seattle, a Queer youth organization working for multi-issue, broad-based social justice. Colin facilitates anti-oppression workshops focusing on both personal and systemic change using Theater of the Oppressed techniques, the world-renowned interactive model of community exploration and education developed by Brazilian radical Augusto Boal. Incorporating community education, social justice and the arts with a dash of wry wit, Colin's presentations, performances and workshops are unique, vital and provocative.
